Sun’s touring uphill
Enjoying the grand vista
I tread down the hill

This is my first attempt at writing a haiku. Accidentally, it also has the usage of a linguistic device ‘Apo Koinou’.
➟ Haiku: It is a type of short poetry form. A traditional Japanese haiku is a three-line poem with seventeen syllables, written in a 5/7/5 syllable count across 3 lines.
➟ Apo Koinou: It denotes the occurrence of one and the same word or word group, not repeated, in two constructions. It is similar to the rhetorical devices ‘syllepsis’ and ‘zeugma’.
Here, the entire phrase (line 2) can be read together with each of the remaining 2 phrases, as follows:
- Sun’s touring uphill enjoying the grand vista
- Enjoying the grand vista, I tread down the hill
This post is written in response to the ‘Thursday #writephoto Photo Prompt’ by Sue Vincent.

To know more about the prompt, go through the guidelines, on her blog.
Nicely done, Anisha.

It is new to me, too. I recently came across this linguistic device on the blog ‘September heart-to-hearts’.
Thanks a lot, Shweta! ❣
