When sea misses land…

He laid awake and said the name into the night.

“Do I really miss her?”, asked his mind. He couldn’t deny. Everything in his line of sight reminded him of her today.

The rising moon,
her glowing face!

The gleaming waters,
the expanse of her love!

The rushing waves that have nowhere to go,
her habit of lingering around in his presence! Continue reading

Lone Wolf

When Rune found a friend in me, it was his postures – hunched shoulders, ever lowered head, tucked-in tail, timid and fearful eyes – that portrayed him as an omega wolf yearning for a non-hurting companion.

The scars of terrible abuse could be felt when I patted his back while he sat silently by my side, but that didn’t mean he was loved less by the pack as I’ve witnessed the aggressive ones giving their dear omega a chance to win games at times.

Oddly, today I could feel a deep pain in his eyes that usually held fears and I was assured of my guess when Rune left my side in a direction opposite to that of his usual return, indicating that he has made his mind firm of becoming a lone wolf leaving his natal pack to nourish himself with adequate food and, find or form a new pack for himself beyond his birth territory.

Wolf Pack Mentality:

I loved this wolf in the photo so much that it inspired me to read about the characteristics of wolf packs. Continue reading

Library Love

Untouched books crowded his shelves, shiny leather spines and faded first editions, meticulously dusted and never read.

He knows he’s in deep trouble now. A few months back, he came across a girl in the library he visits. He stalked her timings for about a week, not with wrong intentions though. With his observations, he started reading books in her often-visited genre. He initiated casual conversations one day and they gradually became friends.

She offered him book suggestions which he really enjoyed. She is someone who just doesn’t focus on the content or is bound to the works of one favourite author. She explored varieties. At times, she used to choose a book, just because the cover is attractive. Continue reading

Misanthrope

His mom was worried about her son’s solitude and dull attitude after he got transferred to the new city. As a lead to comfort him, she enquired upon his early arrival, “Why didn’t you attend your office party?”

“I’m not a misanthrope, Mom. I just don’t get along with the people here,” he replied in an irritating tone and immediately apologized Continue reading

Lost – TLT #10

Celebrations failed when both of them followed the crowd and went missing.

Before silencing due to fear and tiredness, they were clever enough to garner attention by crying and barking loud, without knowing that they were actually screaming out a philosophy.

Those who follow the sea of people usually get lost in its waves. Continue reading

Spunky who’s not spunky

A monkey ‘Spunky’ lost some key to a bunny ‘Bunkey’. Spunky, who’s a flunkey to a hunky junkie, clung to the monkeypod fearing the slinky walk of that clunky lad, abandoning the key in his name ‘spunky’.

Olfaction – TLT #9

We, the lavender fields, bounded by mountains and green trees on one side were once cultivated by an estate owner with a good intention of escaping from the residues of the industrial revolution, bloomed to serve as visual treats to visitors, also spreading our aroma to lands around.

However, as generations passed, our lifestyle got changed just like yours, wherein we are plucked as buds even before we bloom so as to retain the colour, fragrance, and freshness longer.

Instead of helping the tourism industry bloom Continue reading

Worn Out

It’s been fifty years since our first house-warming, and it’s our first visit since the last twenty years.

These steps that I considered as nature’s gift to our house, have worn out unable to bear the weights of memories and repetitive human actions over time.

Shatter and Solace

It has been seven years. Maaya’s still single, with no family. Day by day, her discomfort was growing bigger and bigger than her comforts, especially after her distant mother’s demise. Completely shattered, she decided to step out of her ruts and lookout for a new way to solace her disturbed mind.

She had her dinner, and then sent an email full of unsaid words that weighed heavy in her heart for a long time. She didn’t dare to check the mailbox again for a reply. The night passed restlessly. But still, she was determined not to turn on her internet till Continue reading

Mute Man – TLT #8

He’s a great observationalist who tells stories during his voyages – painted tales of nature that are untouched by time and the truths that go unnoticed in commoners life – all through his music.

When he rests his chin on the fiddle and starts moving the bow over the strings of his violin, the music emerging from the instrument as a result of friction is one of those things that we can’t see but still feel the heavenly touch.

Smart Art – TLT #7

Don’t get me wrong for standing without the basic protective gear, masks and gloves, because it’s 2050 and not 2020.

My friend is a designer with the hobby wall-painting and I’m a technologist waiting for him to come down so that we can together go to the playground.
