Sleep Utopia

As each day ends, I wish I could dive into my chaos energetically rather than drowning pathetically and then watch the movement of water that overpowers me transferring a portion of its energy as our sweet little deal followed by taking a stand against the welcoming winds under the bed of stars preferably boarding over a gently swaying boat that sails over an ambient oceanscape as a lonesome point that is lost in this vast universe born only to find all beauty in the vanishing ripples that reflect the milky white planetoid pumpkin which has mood swings that do not match with mine and afterwards slowly slip into the arms of sleep right in the shimmering open arbour that remains unbarred while listening to the magical stories of umpteen galaxies that hang over and the mellifluous voice of surrounding waves that kiss me good night one by one until that philander with bright dancing rays barges in on my pleasant utopian or sometimes wild dreams forcing me to open my eyes after bulldozing all fantasies written and directed by Nox.

Word Count: 180

The writing above is an example of the usage of the literary device ‘Polysyndeton’. Nox is the Roman goddess of the night.

Pearl

oyster yields a starry pearl

I had 3 different conceptions while framing this tanka, the first being the direct inference of the biological formation of a pearl in an oyster, and the second about a motivational stimulus. The third perspective, not associated with the entire tanka, is a euphemism with a human hermaphrodite.

When sea misses land…

He laid awake and said the name into the night.

“Do I really miss her?”, asked his mind. He couldn’t deny. Everything in his line of sight reminded him of her today.

The rising moon,
her glowing face!

The gleaming waters,
the expanse of her love!

The rushing waves that have nowhere to go,
her habit of lingering around in his presence! Continue reading

Solution

This is a free verse, each line framed with six words, comparing water with the life of anyone who is in trouble. Based on the mind’s perception, the hope for reality might evaporate or offer a solution. A six-word story is quoted at the end.

Amorphous, but still assigned a colour.
She closed the doors of perception.
Things known transformed into things unknown.
She got lost in the waves.

World Oceans Day 2020

World Oceans Day is to celebrate and honour the oceans that connect us all together, and to remind the role of oceans in everyday life. This idea was first proposed in 1992 at the Earth Summit in Rio de Jeneiro, Brazil, and was officially implemented by the ‘United Nations’ in 2008.

Disclaimer:
The post is lengthy, around 900 words.

Why do we need to concern about the oceans when we do no direct harms to it?

Climate and weather of the landmasses are strongly influenced by oceanic circulation patterns. Drastic changes can heavily affect agriculture, animal life, followed by human lifestyle patterns to a greater extent if left unnoticed. Continue reading

Enduring Friendship

To respect lock-down,
they maintain distance.
They stay so far,
with hearts so near.

They share myriads,
of vast similarities.
He loves serenity.
So, she chose blue.

She gives him his space.
He doesn’t dig her secrets.
She gets mood swings.
Accordingly, he adjusts his hues.

He has infinite dreams,
wanting to live among immortals.
She’s a fathomless wonder,
finding happiness in the mortals.

Days get tough,
but they don’t break.
They connect through rays,
when clouds hinder their ways.

When she gets rough,
he stands by.
When he pours out,
she buries them deep.

He’s imaginary,
with limits undefined.
She’s real,
with depths unexplored.

She’s the oceanic sphere,
who remains the ‘Reily’ of his life.
He’s the celestial sphere,
the ‘Bing Bong’ of her life.

They welcome intrepid guests,
also accompany far-flung loners.
This is a never ending tale
of two complex cosmic cronies.

To friends who are aloof,
they stand proof
stating friendship can exist
beyond all sort of differences!

Cheers!

This is a response post to the ‘Thursday Poetry Competition by ‘Penable’. The topic assigned is ‘Friendship’.

In this metaphorical free verse, I’ve drawn an analogy of the sky and ocean, to relate with friends who stay strong even with wider differences in aspirations and lifestyle.
