Upended Hourglass

Here's a handful of sand
from infinite grains on beach.
Then, open.
Now, concealed.

As they fall trying to escape,
more clearer is the picture other side.
Past provides clarity, and
Future is far from haze.
Both ends compete to
get full and gain meaning.
But course changes
only when extremities are reached.

Memories fade.
Memories accumulate.
With each falling grain,
heap rises to a new height.

Hands of past and future
attempt to grab the present.
They twist and turn events
but fail to affect the flow's pace.

These hands remain outstretched,
forever, to garner attention.
Like the upended hourglass,
only if time travel gets easier beyond minds!
