In My Own World

A/N: Kindly read the verse in landscape mode if the lines don’t fit entirely on your screen.

I’m promoted, demoted, and terminated beyond my liking and capacity. Do I live in my own world or others’?

People call me sarcastic;
but I don't understand many sarcasms.
They label me intelligent;
and I can't clear an entrance.

They label me active;
but I'm overworked!
Are their words true, or
do they act as a cursing charm?

It's good to appreciate, but
why do they set standards?
Okay, those people are mine,
and so, I can't speak back.

Should I take this opportunity,
dump my creativity
or develop more knowledge,
and shine, in my own world?

    Thought provoking words. Are we our own masters or just puppets being pulled about on strings? And who are the puppet masters? And are there puppeteer masters?

    Extremely relatable one, Anisha. It’s the hardest when it comes from our own people.

      We should, definitely! I believe I’ve messed up in the last stanza. I didn’t find the right words to convey my thoughts.

      It’s heartening and disheartening at the same time to find many of us relating with these words. We consider our circle’s wishes everytime and often don’t even think if we really want to accomplish those. We should also start caring more about us. ❣
