‘The Small Joys’ Tag

Phoenix, big thanks to you for tagging me to ‘The Small Joys’ tag. She’s an author, also helping out aspiring writers through her writing clubs. Do check out her blog.

Rules for this tag are simple.

  • Thank the blogger who tagged you.
  • List 15 of your Small Joys. (They can be as weird, random, and silly as you want to make them.)
  • Tag 5 blogger friends who bring you joy (and feel free to say why they bring you joy). Have fun with it!

My 15 Small Joys:

➟ Watching squirrels eat, esp. walnuts. They are very tactful. They climb the tree, come back with a nut, sit in a comfortable position, bang it hard on the wall repeatedly until the shell breaks, and finally taste the nuts inside. Hardworking naughty species!

➟ Beautiful sunset accompanied by the sounds of birds flying back to their nest – It’s a visual feast.

➟ Coming to yet another favourite senses of mine, the smell, I love pleasant fragrances – the smell of a favourite dish, a new book, petrichor, gasoline (might sound weird, but I like it even after knowing it’s toxic – one of the dark pleasures, I guess), and many others.

➟ Appreciation from a friend can make me smile wide. It’s the rarest of the rare!

➟ Time flies away too soon when having irrelevant chats with mom.

➟ I love my pillow more than you can imagine. After tiring day(s) away from home, it’s something that gives me solace. It’s an extra pillow that stays with me whenever I’m at home – learning, eating, watching TV, or sleeping – a secret companion!

➟ Watching movies with a good plot is another little joy. I also watch casual light-hearted movies, esp. romantic comedies, and animated Disney movies.

➟ Killing a mosquito is pure bliss. I’m heavily allergic to mosquito bites. When I kill them successfully, I’ve even jumped in joy. I remember me singing to this success and celebrate it joyfully coming around my home, as a kid.

➟ A window seat – It’s something that couldn’t be compromised. I wish for more windows as in classrooms, school buses, trains, and planes. It has been the only happy diversion in many of my boring journeys.

➟ I enjoy coding.

➟ I love waves washing my feet on uncrowded beaches.

➟ Chicken on my plate, any day, anytime, makes my day. (Pet-lovers forgive me. I’ve come across people who have roosters as pets, on this blog!)

➟ A night of long undisturbed sleep is another small joy of mine.  By long, I mean duration greater than 8 hours.

➟ I love to take photographs of plants and trees in our little garden.

➟ Recently, it felt great to have completed all pending award nominations. But, within moments of experiencing the bliss, they started piling up again. I must say, tears flowed – happy tears!

My Nominees

I nominate the following blogs to take forward this joyful experience.

I’ve read 3 of your mosquito stories. I’ve enjoyed reading them too. And, yeah, mosquitoes are terribly irritating, Shweta.

High-five to all our similarities. 🙋
